The Fees for Inquiries (Variation) Order 1968

Coming into Operation: 1st May 1968
The Treasury, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 5 of, and paragraph 6 of Schedule 3 to, the Public Expenditure and Receipts Act 1968, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:—

The enactments specified in column 1 of the Schedule to this Order (which specify the maximum amount of payments in respect of the services of officers of government departments engaged in certain inquiries) shall be amended by substituting for the sums specified in column 2 of that Schedule the sums specified in column 3 thereof.

The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply for the interpretation of this Order as it applies for the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.

This Order may be cited as the Fees for Inquiries (Variation) Order 1968, and shall come into operation on 1st May 1968.

Explanatory note
EXPlANATORY NOTE
The enactments set out in the Schedule to this Order specify the maximum amount of fees payable per day for the services of officers of government departments engaged in certain inquiries. With a view to securing from the fees a net return corresponding more nearly with the costs incurred, the Order amends the enactments by increasing the maximum amount of the fees.
