The Transport Act 1968 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1970
Made: 16th January 1970
The Minister of Transport hereby makes this Order in exercise of his powers under section 166 of the Transport Act 1968 and of all other enabling powers:—

This Order may be cited as the Transport Act 1968 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1970.

Subsections (10) and (12) of section 96 of the Transport Act 1968 shall come into force on the 22nd January 1970.

Explanatory note
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order brings into operation on 22nd January 1970 subsections (10) and (12) of section 96 of the Transport Act 1968, which enable the Minister of Transport by subordinate legislation to modify the requirements of section 96 (which relates to the permitted driving time and periods of duty of drivers of passenger and goods vehicles) and also to empower the traffic commissioners or licensing authorities to dispense with the observance of those requirements in certain cases.
