Made: 20th March 1971

The Secretary of State, in exercise of his powers under section 24(2) of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1971, and all other powers in that behalf enabling him, hereby orders as follows:

This Order may be cited as the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1971 (Appointed Day) Order 1971.

The appointed day for the purposes of sections 1 and 2 of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1971 shall be 1st April 1971.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order fixes the 1st April 1971 as the appointed day for the purposes of sections 1 and 2 of the Atomic Energy Authority Act 1971 and, accordingly, it is upon that date that the transfers provided for in that Act of parts of the undertaking of the United Kingdom Atomic Energy Authority to British Nuclear Fuels Limited and The Radiochemical Centre Limited will take place.
