Coming into Operation

The Secretary of State after consultation with the Gas Industry Training Board, with the British Gas Corporation, being the sole employer engaged in the activities of the gas industry, and with organisations and associations of organisations appearing to be representative of substantial numbers of persons employed in the activities of the gas industry and in the exercise of his powers under section 9 of the Industrial Training Act 1964 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following order:—

The Industrial Training Order is hereby revoked.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order provides with effect from 1st January 1974 for the winding up of the Gas Industry Training Board, which was established by the Industrial Training (Gas Industry Board) Order 1965, and for the revocation of that Order with effect from 1st April 1974. Any assets remaining on the completion of the winding up are to be applied for the purpose of repaying levy to the British Gas Corporation, now the sole employer in the industry, which was formerly called the Gas Council and is the successor body to the Area Boards who until 1st January 1973 were, together with the Gas Council, the employers in the industry.
