Made: 26th March 1973

Coming into Operation: 1st May 1973

The Secretary of State for the Environment, upon consideration of proposals made to him by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England and in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by paragraph 1(2) of Schedule 3 to the Local Government Act 1972 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:—

Title and commencement

This order may be cited as the English Non-metropolitan Districts (Names) Order 1973 and shall come into operation on 1st May 1973.

Interpretation

and in these definitions “the order of 1972” means the English dNon-metropolitan Districts (Definition) Order 1972[^f00001].

Names of non-metropolitan districts

In the non-metropolitan counties named in column (1) of the Schedule to this order each non-metropolitan district identified by its reference number in column (2) shall bear the name specified in respect of the district in column (3).
