Explanatory note
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This order, made under section 4 of, and Part II of Schedule 3 to, the European Communities Act 1972, appoints a day for the repeal of specified provisions of the Sugar Act 1956 and the National Loans Act 1968 which are no longer required following adoption by the United Kingdom of the Common Agricultural Policy of the European Community. The principal provisions repealed are the Minister's power to advance sums to the Sugar Board except as regards advances made before the repeal takes effect, and his power, in specified circumstances, to direct the Board to withhold payments which would otherwise be payable under the 1956 Act to the British Sugar Corporation.
