Made: 4th September 1977

The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 32(6) of the Administration of Justice Act 1977, hereby makes the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Administration of Justice Act 1977 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1977.

Section 28 of the Administration of Justice Act 1977 shall come into operation on 15th September 1977.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation section 28 of the Administration of Justice Act 1977, which enables the Lord Chancellor to prescribe by Order (i) the rate of interest payable on the statutory legacy of the surviving spouse of a person dying intestate, and (ii) the manner in which the capital value of a life interest is to be reckoned.
