The British Wool Marketing Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 1977

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, the Secretary of State for Scotland, the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (being the Secretaries of State respectively concerned with agriculture in Scotland and Northern Ireland) and the Secretary of State for Wales, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by section 7 of the Agriculture (Miscellaneous Provisions) Act 1976 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, after consultation with such organisations as appear to them appropriate, hereby make the following regulations:—
Citation, commencement and interpretation

- (1) These regulations may be cited as the British Wool Marketing Scheme (Amendment) Regulations 1977 and shall come into operation on 18th November 1977.
- (2) The Interpretation Act 1889 shall apply to the interpretation of these regulations as it applies to the interpretation of an Act of Parliament.
Amendment of the British Wool Marketing Scheme

The British Wool Marketing Scheme 1950[^f00001] as amended [^f00002] shall be further amended as follows:—
- (a) by substituting therein for the words “per pound” or “per lb.” wherever they appear the words “per kilogram”;
- (b) by substituting in paragraph 71(5) thereof as amended, by section 10 of the Decimal Currency Act 1969, for the figures “2.5p” the figures “5.5p”;
- (c) by substituting in paragraph 79 thereof, as amended as aforesaid, for the figures “0.417p” the figures “1.0p”; and
- (d) by substituting in paragraph 88(4) thereof, as amended as aforesaid, for the figures “0.208p” the figures “0.5p”.

Explanatory note
EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations which come into operation on 18th November 1977 amend the British Wool Marketing Scheme 1950, as amended, by—
(1) substituting references to “kilogram” for references to “pound” or “lb”; and
(2) consequentially amending certain monetary references in the Scheme.
