The Gun Barrel Proof Act 1978 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1978
Made: 1st November 1978
The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 9(3) of the Gun Barrel Proof Act 1978, hereby makes the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Gun Barrel Proof Act 1978 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1978.

The provisions of the Gun Barrel Proof Act 1978 specified in the Schedule to this Order shall come into operation on 1st December 1978.
SCHEDULE
- Sections 2 to 7.
- Section 8(1), so far as it relates to the provisions of Schedule 3 hereinafter specified.
- Section 8(2).
- Section 9.
- In Schedule 3: paragraph 1, except for sub-paragraph (a) and the definition of “convention proof mark” in sub-paragraph (b); paragraphs 2 to 9; paragraph 10(1); paragraphs 11 to 14; paragraph 15(1) and (2); paragraph 16, except for the words “or which is or at any time was a convention proof mark”; paragraphs 17 to 20.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order brings into operation on 1st December 1978 all the provisions of the Gun Barrel Proof Act 1978 other than those relating to the Convention for the Reciprocal Recognition of Proof Marks of Small Arms (Cmnd. 5942).
