The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in pursuance of paragraph (c) of Schedule 2 to the Charities Act 1960, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

University College London is hereby declared to be an exempt charity for the purposes of the Charities Act 1960

This Order may be cited as the Exempt Charities Order 1978 and shall come into operation on 1st May 1978.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order declares University College London to be an “exempt charity” within the meaning of the Charities Act 1960. An exempt charity is not required to be registered with the Charity Commissioners and the Charity Commissioners cannot exercise any of their powers under that Act in relation to an exempt charity except at the request of the charity.
