The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1979

The Secretary of State for the Environment and the Secretary of State for Wales in exercise of their powers under section 65(2) of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 hereby make the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1979.

Sections 48 and 49 of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 shall come into operation in England and Wales on 16th July 1979.

Explanatory note
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order provides for the coming into operation in England and Wales of sections 48 and 49 of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979. Section 48 relates to the recovery of grants for expenditure in conservation areas and on historic buildings, and section 49 provides for grants to the Architectural Heritage Fund.
