The Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1980

The Minister of Transport in exercise of the powers conferred by section 63(1) of the Road Traffic Act 1972[^f00001] and now vested in him[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers, and after consultation with representative organisations in accordance with the provisions of section 199(2) of that Act, hereby makes the following Regulations:—

These Regulations shall come into operation on 15th February 1981 and may be cited as the Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) (Amendment) (No. 2) Regulations 1980.

The Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) Regulations 1979[^f00003] shall be amended so as to have effect in accordance with the following provisions of these Regulations.

In Schedule 2, after item 39, add the following new items:—

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations further amend the Motor Vehicles (Designation of Approval Marks) Regulations 1979 so as to designate, by adding items 43 to 43C in Schedule 2, approval marks for glass panes other than windscreens, toughened-glass windscreens, ordinary laminated-glass windscreens and treated laminated-glass windscreens. These new designations follow the adoption of ECE Regulation No. 43 which relates to uniform provisions concerning the approval of safety glazing and glazing materials for installation on power-driven vehicles and their trailers. Copies of ECE Regulations may be obtained from Her Majesty's Stationery Office.
