Made: 14th July 1980

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33(5) of the Competition Act 1980, hereby makes the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Competition Act 1980 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1980.

Except as otherwise provided by the Competition Act 1980 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1980, the Competition Act 1980 shall come into operation on 12th August 1980.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation on 12th August 1980 the provisions of the Competition Act 1980 relating to the control of anti-competitive practices (sections 2 to 10, 15(2) to (5), 16, 17 and 31(2) and (3), so far as not already in operation) and to references to the Monopolies and Mergers Commission of questions concerning the operation of bus services by persons other than public bodies (section 11(3)(b), 3(f) (so far as relating to (3)(b)), (4) and (5)).
