The Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1981

The Secretary of State for the Environment and the Secretary of State for Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 65(2) of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979, hereby make the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1981.

Part I and (except in so far as it is already in operation or relates to Part II thereof) Part III of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979 shall come into operation in England and Wales on 9th October 1981.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This order brings into operation in England and Wales Part I (which relates to the protection of scheduled monuments) and, with certain exceptions, Part III (which relates to miscellaneous and supplemental matters) of the Ancient Monuments and Archaeological Areas Act 1979.
