The Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1981

The Secretary of State for the Environment, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 94(2) of the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:—

This order may be cited as the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 (Commencement No. 4) Order 1981 and shall come into operation on 19th March 1981.

Part X of the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 shall come into operation on 19th March 1981 in the areas of the district and London borough councils specified in the Schedule to this Order.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This order brings Part X of the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 into force in the areas of the district and London borough councils listed in the Schedule to the Order. These areas are in addition to those specified in the Local Government, Planning and Land Act 1980 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1980 (S.I. 1980/1871). Part X of the Act provides for registers to be kept of land owned by public bodies, being land which is not being used or not being sufficiently used for the purposes of the performance of a public body's functions or of carrying on their undertaking. Part X also provides that the Secretary of State may direct a public body which own land on a register to take steps to dispose of it.
