The Agricultural Wages Committees (Amendment) Regulations 1982

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food as respects England, and the Secretary of State as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 2 and 17 of, and the Third Schedule to, the Agricultural Wages Act 1948, and now vested in the said Minister in relation to England and the Secretary of State in relation to Wales[^f00001], and of all their other enabling powers, hereby make the following regulations:—

Title, commencement and interpretation

• (1) These regulations may be cited as the Agricultural Wages Committees (Amendment) Regulations 1982, and shall come into operation on 17th September 1982.

• (2) In these regulations “the principal regulations” means the Agricultural Wages Committees Regulations 1949[^f00002], and, unless the context otherwise requires, any reference herein to a numbered regulation shall be construed as a reference to the regulation bearing that number in the principal regulations.

Amendment of the principal regulations

• (1) The principal regulations shall be amended in accordance with the following provisions of this regulation.

• (2) In regulation 2 the definition of “The Executive Committee” shall be omitted.

• (3) For paragraph (3) of regulation 3 there shall be substituted the following paragraph:

(3) Such members shall, in the case of representatives of workers in agriculture, be nominated by the General Executive Council

• (4) In paragraph (4) of regulation 3 the words “the Executive Committee” shall be omitted.

• (5) In regulation 6 the words “the Executive Committee” and the words “Executive Committee” shall be omitted.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Agricultural Wages Committees Regulations 1949 (as amended) by providing that the members of Agricultural Wages Committees representing workers in agriculture shall be nominated solely by the General Executive Council of the Transport and General Workers' Union and not, as previously, by that Council and the Executive Committee of the National Union of Agricultural and Allied Workers. Consequential amendments are made to regulations 2, 3 and 6 of the 1949 Regulations.
