The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1982

Made: 12th January 1982

The Secretary of State for the Environment as respects England, the Secretary of State for Scotland as respects Scotland and the Secretary of State for Wales as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 74(3) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, hereby make the following order:

This order may be cited as the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1982.

The following provisions of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, namely,—

• (a) section 12;

• (b) section 48;

• (c) Schedule 7; and

• (d) section 73(1) as respects the entries in Part II of Schedule 17 which relate to the Deer Act 1963, the Conservation of Seals Act 1970 and the Badgers Act 1973,

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This order provides for section 12 of and Schedule 7 to the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, together with certain of the repeals in Part II of Schedule 17 to that Act, to come into force on 16th February 1982. These provisions amend the law relating to the protection of certain mammals.

The order also provides for section 48 of the 1981 Act, which relates to the duties of water authorities and inland drainage boards in England and Wales, to come into force on the same date.
