The Transport Act 1981 (Commencement No. 11) Order 1983

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 32(2) and 40(4) of the Transport Act 1981, and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Transport Act 1981 (Commencement No. 11) Order 1983.

25th August 1983 is appointed for the purpose of the coming into force of section 32 of, and Schedule 10 to, the Transport Act 1981 and the repeal of section 17 of the Road Traffic Act 1974 in Part III of Schedule 12 to the said Act of 1981, in so far as those provisions apply to England and Wales.

Explanatory note
EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order appoints 25th August 1983 for the purpose of the coming into force of section 32 of, and Schedule 10 to, the Transport Act 1981 (which provide for the construction, maintenance and removal of road humps in highways) and the repeal of section 17 of the Road Traffic Act 1974 (which provides for the experimental introduction of road humps for controlling vehicle speeds), in so far as applicable to England and Wales.
