Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (Amendment of section 20) Order 1983
Made: 5th August 1983
Coming into Operation: 1st September 1983
In exercise of powers conferred on me by section 80(1)(a) of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975, and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, after consultation with the Equal Opportunities Commission in accordance with section 80(2) of that Act, I hereby make the following order, a draft of which has been laid before Parliament and has been approved by each House of Parliament:—
Citation and commencement

This Order may be cited as the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (Amendment of section 20) Order 1983 and shall come into operation on 1st September 1983.
Amendment of Sex Discrimination Act

Subsections (1), (2) and (3) of section 20 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 (certain provisions of Act not to apply to midwives) shall be amended by the insertion at the beginning of each of those subsections the words “Until 1st September 1983”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This Order amends section 20 of the Sex Discrimination Act 1975 so that from 1st September 1983 the provisions of that Act concerning employment, promotion, transfer and training will apply to midwives.
