The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred upon him by section 41(1) and (4) of the National Heritage Act 1983, hereby makes the following order:—

This order may be cited as the National Heritage Act 1983 (Commencement No. 3) Order 1983.

The following provisions of the National Heritage Act 1983, namely,—
- (a) sections 17, 22, 32, 33(5), 35 and 38;
- (b) Part III of Schedule 1;
- (c) Schedule 3; and
- (d) paragraphs 3 and 4 of Schedule 5 so far as they relate, respectively, to the Armouries, the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England and the Board of Trustees of the Armouries,

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This order brings into operation on 1st October 1983 those provisions of the National Heritage Act 1983 which provide for the establishment of the Board of Trustees of the Armouries and the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission for England.
