The Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1983
Made: 13th January 1983
The Secretary of State for the Environment as respects England and the Secretary of State for Wales as respects Wales, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 74(3) and (4) of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981, hereby make the following order:

This order may be cited as the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (Commencement No. 6) Order 1983.

In this order, the “1981 Act” means the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

Subject to article 4, the following provisions of the 1981 Act, namely—
- (a) Part III;
- (b) section 73(1); and
- (c) Schedule 17,

Where any review under section 33 of the National Parks and Access to the Countryside Act 1949 is not completed before the date mentioned in article 3, sections 53 and 54 of the 1981 Act shall not come into force in relation to the area to which the review relates until either—
- (a) the review is completed, or
- (b) the review is abandoned in pursuance of a direction given by the Secretary of State under section 55(1) of the 1981 Act.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
This order provides for Part III of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981 (so far as it has not already been brought into force), together with the relevant repeals, to come into force on 28th February 1983, or, in the case mentioned in article 4 of the order, on the date referred to therein. Part III is concerned with public rights of way.
