The Transport Act 1981 (Commencement No. 9) Order 1983

Made: 14th April 1983

The Secretary of State for Transport, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 31(1) and (2) of the Transport Act 1981, and of all other enabling powers, hereby makes the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Transport Act 1981 (Commencement No. 9) Order 1983.

The 6th May 1983 is appointed as the day on which the provisions of the Transport Act 1981 specified in Article 3 below come into force.

The provisions referred to in Article 2 above are:—

• Section 24;

• Section 25;

• Section 30(1) so far as it relates to sections 24 and 25;

• Schedule 8;

• Schedule 9, paragraphs 1, 3, 12 (save in so far as brought into force by the Transport Act 1981 (Commencement No. 8) Order 1982), 17, 18 (save in so far as brought into force by the Transport Act 1981 (Commencement No. 2) Order 1981), 19, 20, 21, 23, 24 and 25; and

• Schedule 12, the repeals relating to sections 89, 90 and 189 of, and paragraph 1 of Part V of Schedule 4 to, the Road Traffic Act 1972.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

By this Order 6th May 1983 is appointed as the day on which the provisions of the Transport Act 1981 specified in Article 3 come into force. Those provisions comprise the amendments made by that Act to the law relating to electrically assisted pedal cycles driving etc. under the influence of drinking or drugs, and to driving or being in charge of a motor vehicle with an alcohol concentration above the prescribed limit, and matters ancillary thereto.
