Made: 15th August 1984

In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 27(1) of and paragraph 16 of Schedule 4 to the Health and Social Security Act 1984 and of all other powers enabling me in that behalf, I hereby make the following order:—

Citation

This order may be cited as the Health and Social Security Act 1984 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1984.

Days appointed for the coming into force of certain provisions of the Act

The day appointed for the coming into force of each provision of the Health and Social Security Act 1984 (hereinafter called “the Act”) which is specified in column (1) of the Schedule to this Order is the date specified in column (3) of that Schedule in relation to that provision.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This Order brings into operation, on various dates in 1984 and 1985, all those provisions of the Health and Social Security Act 1984 which are not brought into operation by section 27 of the Act itself, except the provisions relating to professional remuneration in the National Health Service and some of the provisions relating to optical appliances and opticians in the National Health Service.
