The Industrial Assurance (Life Assurance Premium Relief) (Amendment) Regulations 1984

The Industrial Assurance Commissioner pursuant to the powers conferred upon him by paragraph 13 of Schedule 4 to the Finance Act 1976 and to all other powers enabling him in that behalf hereby makes the following regulations:—

These regulations may be cited as the Industrial Assurance (Life Assurance Premium Relief) (Amendment) Regulations 1984 and shall come into operation on 14th March 1984.

Nothing in regulation 3(1) of the Industrial Assurance (Life Assurance Premium Relief) Regulations 1977[^f00001] (“the 1977 Regulations”) shall be taken to have authorised the adoption of any scheme to the extent that, by virtue of the scheme, payments due and payable under—

• (a) policies in respect of assurances made after 13th March 1984, or

• (b) contracts made after that date,

In consequence of regulation 2 above, the 1977 Regulations shall have effect with the following modifications—

• (a) in regulation 3(2), for the words “policies or contracts to which” there shall be substituted the words—

(a) policies in respect of assurances made before 14th March 1984, or (b) contracts made before that date, to which

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

These Regulations amend the Friendly Societies (Life Assurance Premium Relief) Regulations 1977 so that, where a friendly society or branch adopted the prescribed, or an approved, scheme under which life assurance premium relief to members is effected by deductions from contributions, the scheme will not authorise such deductions in respect of contracts made after 13th March 1984.
