The Greater London Council (Transfer of Land and Housing Accommodation) (No. 3) Order 1981 (Amendment) Order 1985

Whereas the Greater London Council and the Council of the London borough of Tower Hamlets have requested the Secretary of State for the Environment to amend by order the Greater London Council (Transfer of Land and Housing Accommodation) (No. 3) Order 1981 and those councils have agreed the terms of such amendment;

Now therefore the Secretary of State, in exercise of powers conferred by sections 23(3), 84 and 90 of the London Government Act 1963, and now vested in him[^f00001], and in exercise of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following order:—

Citation, commencement and interpretation

• (1) This order may be cited as the Greater London Council (Transfer of Land and Housing Accommodation) (No. 3) Order 1981 (Amendment) Order 1985 and shall come into operation on 1st July 1985.

• (2) In this order “the principal order” means the Greater London Council (Transfer of Land and Housing Accommodation) (No. 3) Order 1981, as amended by the Greater London Council (Transfer of Land and Housing Accommodation) Order 1982.

Amendment of the principal order

The principal order shall be further amended as follows—

• (a) in article 2(1), for the definition of “the deposited Schedule” there shall be substituted—

• “the revised Schedule” means the Schedule prepared in triplicate and entitled “Revised Schedule of properties transferred by the Greater London Council (Transfer of Land and Housing Accommodation) (No. 3) Order 1981” which is signed by an Assistant Secretary in the Department of the Environment and as to which further provision is made in article 3;

• (b) for all other references to the deposited Schedule there shall be substituted references to the revised Schedule; and

• (c) article 3(2) is revoked.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This order amends the Greater London Council (Transfer of Land and Housing Accommodation) (No. 3) Order 1981, which transfers land and housing accommodation from the Greater London Council to the London borough of Tower Hamlets on 1st July 1985. This order, which is made at the request of both councils, substitutes a revised schedule of property to be transferred by that order, and revokes article 3(2) which is spent.
