The Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1986

Coming into Operation: 23rd August 1986
In exercise of the powers conferred upon me by section 1(1) of the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975[^f00001], and after such consultation as is mentioned in section 18(4) of that Act, I hereby make the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Safety of Sports Grounds (Designation) Order 1986 and shall come into operation on 23rd August 1986.

The sports stadia specified in Schedule 1 to this Order (being stadia each of which in the opinion of the Secretary of State has accommodation for more than 10,000 spectators) are hereby designated as stadia requiring safety certificates under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975.

The sports ground specified in Schedule 2 to this Order (being a sports ground at which Association Football, Rugby League Football or Rugby Union Football is played and which in the opinion of the Secretary of State has accommodation for more than 10,000 spectators) is hereby designated as a sports ground requiring a safety certificate under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975, as extended by the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 (Extension to Football Grounds) Order 1986.

Explanatory note
EXPLANATORY NOTE
By this Order the Secretary of State designates the sports stadia set out in Schedule 1 to it as stadia requiring safety certificates under the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 and the sports ground set out in Schedule 2 to it as a sports ground requiring a safety certificate under that Act as extended by the Safety of Sports Grounds Act 1975 (Extension to Football Grounds) Order 1986.
