Explanatory note
EXPLANATORY NOTE
Section 262(9) of the Local Government Act 1972 provides that all local statutory provisions to which that sub-section applies cease to have effect on specified dates, but allows the date to be postponed, in relation to any local government area, by statutory order.
The specified date in relation to non-metropolitan counties in England and all counties in Wales was postponed to 31st December 1986 by the Non-metropolitan and Welsh Counties (Local Statutory Provisions) Order 1983 (S.I. 1983/619).
This order further postpones the specified date in relation to the local government areas mentioned in article 2(2). Relevant provisions in those areas will continue in force until 31st December 1987 unless otherwise repealed.
