The Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) (Amendment) Regulations 1986

In pursuance of sections 10(2)(a) and 31 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1971, after consultation with the Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, I hereby make the following Regulations:—

These Regulations may be cited as the Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) (Amendment) Regulations 1986 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1987.

For Schedule 1 to the Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) Regulations 1973[^f00001] there shall be substituted the following Schedule:—
SCHEDULE 1 (1) Any controlled drug specified in Schedule 4 or 5 to the Misuse of Drugs Regulations 1985[^f00002]. (2) Any liquid preparation designed for administration otherwise than by injection which contains any of the following substances and products, that is to say:— (a) Amphetamine (b) Benzphetamine (c) Chlorphentermine (d) Fenethylline (e) Mephentermine (f) Methaqualone (g) Methylamphetamine (h) Methylphenidate (i) Phendimetrazine (j) Phenmetrazine (k) Pipradrol (l) Any stereoisomeric form of a substance specified in any of paragraphs (a) to (k) above. (m) Any salt of a substance specified in any of paragraphs (a) to (l) above. (3) Any of the following substances and products, that is to say:— (a) Any 5,5 disubstituted barbituric acid (b) Cathine (c) Ethchlorvynol (d) Ethinamate (e) Mazindol (f) Meprobamate (g) Methylphenobarbitone (h) Methyprylone (i) Pentazocine (j) Phentermine (k) Any stereoisomeric form of a substance specified in any of paragraphs (a) to (j) above. (l) Any salt of a substance specified in any of paragraphs (a) to (k) above. (m) Any preparation or other product containing a substance or product specified in any of paragraphs (a) to (l) above.

Explanatory note
EXPLANATORY NOTE
These Regulations amend the Misuse of Drugs (Safe Custody) Regulations 1973 by substituting a new Schedule 1 (which specifies those drugs which are exempted from the requirements of the Regulations). The only change of substance is the addition of fenethylline (when in the form of a liquid preparation designed for administration otherwise than by injection) and cathine.
