EXPLANATORY NOTE

These regulations amend the National Health Service (Standing Advisory Committees) Regulations 1981, which made provision with respect to the appointment and terms of office of members of Standing Advisory Committees constituted by the Secretary of State under section 6 of the National Health Service Act 1977 by amending the list of offices whose holders cease to be members of Advisory Committees if they cease to hold such office by substituting for the office of President of the Royal College of General Practitioners the office of Chairman of Council of the Royal College of General Practitioners and adding the office of the Dean of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine (regulation 2). In addition provision is made for the Secretary of State to appoint deputies for office-holders (regulation 3).
