The Local Government Reorganisation (Property etc.) (Local Fisheries Committees) Order 1986

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food, being the appropriate Minister within the meaning of section 270(1) of the Local Government Act 1972, and the Secretary of State, in exercise of the power conferred on them by section 100 of the Local Government Act 1985 and, in the case of the Minister, by section 103(6) of that Act and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf hereby make the following order:

This order may be cited as the Local Government Reorganisation (Property etc.) (Local Fisheries Committees) Order 1986 and shall come into operation on 1st April 1986.

On 1st April 1986 all property, rights and liabilities to which a metropolitan county council was immediately before that date entitled or subject in its capacity as a constituent council of a committee established by an order under section 1 of the Sea Fisheries Regulation Act 1966 shall vest in the constituent councils of the committee as constituted on that date.

Explanatory note

EXPLANATORY NOTE

This order, which applies to England and Wales, makes provision in connection with the property, rights and liabilities of local fisheries committees affected by the abolition of metropolitan county councils by the Local Government Act 1985. The order vests all property, rights and liabilities to which a metropolitan county council was immediately before 1st April 1986 entitled or subject, in its capacity as a constituent council of a local fisheries committee, in the constituent councils of the committee as constituted on that date.
