Coming into force: 10th July 1987

The Secretary of State for Wales in relation to Wales and the Secretary of State for Transport in relation to England make this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001] and now vested in them[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers:—

The length of Trunk Road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which the Secretaries of State respectively notify the County Councils of Clwyd and Shropshire that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

This Order shall come into force on 10th July 1987 and may be cited as the London-Holyhead Trunk Road A5 (Rhoswiel-Whitehurst Detrunking) Order 1987.

SCHEDULE — LENGTH OF ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

That length of the London-Holyhead Trunk Road (A5) at Chirk in the Counties of Clwyd and Shropshire starting at a point (marked “1” on the deposited plan) 20 metres north of its junction with Station Road (B5070) at Rhoswiel and then going generally north-westward and ending at a point (marked “2” on the deposited plan) 825 metres south of its junction with the Swansea-Manchester Trunk Road (A483) at Whitehurst Gardens.

The overall length of road which is to cease to be a trunk road is 4345 metres.
