(This note is not part of the Order)
By virtue of transitional provisions contained in the Education (No. 2) Act 1986 (Commencement No. 1) Order 1986 (S.I. 1986/2203) the application of section 31(8) of the London Government Act 1963 (as amended by paragraph 6 of Schedule 5 to the Local Government Act 1966) (concerning recoupment in Greater London) is confined to further education.
Following the making of regulations (the Further Education (Recoupment) Regulations 1987 (S.I. 1987/1158)) applying the recoupment provisions of section 51(1) and (5) of the 1986 (No. 2) Act to prescribed categories of pupils receiving non-advanced further education, the present Order brings into force, on 1st September 1987, provisions repealing the above-mentioned provisions of the London Government Act 1963 and the Local Government Act 1966. When this Order takes effect the whole of the 1986 (No. 2) Act will have been brought into force.
