The Eggs (Marketing Standards) (Amendment) Regulations 1987

The Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food and the Secretary of State, being Ministers designated[^f00001] for the purposes of section 2(2) of the European Communities Act 1972[^f00002] in relation to the common agricultural policy of the European Economic Community, acting jointly, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by the said section 2(2) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:—

Citation, commencement and extent

• (1) These Regulations may be cited as the Eggs (Marketing Standards) (Amendment) Regulations 1987, and shall come into force on 6th August 1987.

• (2) These Regulations shall not extend to Northern Ireland.

Interpretation

In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Eggs (Marketing Standards) Regulations 1985[^f00003]

Amendment of the principal Regulations

The principal Regulations shall be amended as follows:—

• (a) From regulation 2(2) thereof the word “other” shall be deleted;

• (b) For regulation 7 thereof there shall be substituted the following regulation:

(7) The official mark for the purposes of any Community provision shall consist of the letters “UK”, each letter being 1 centimetre high surrounded by a line describing an oval.

• (c) From regulation 8(d) thereof the words “other than regulation 3 above” shall be deleted;

• (d) For the Schedule thereto there shall be substituted the contents of the Schedule to these Regulations.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations, which apply throughout Great Britain and come into force on 6th August 1987, amend the Egg, (Marketing Standards) Regulations 1985 (“the principal Regulations”). In consequence of further amendments made by Council Regulation (EEC) 3494/86 to Council Regulations (EEC) 2772/75 and 2782/75, by Commission Regulation (EEC) 3906/86 to Commission Regulation (EEC) 95/69 and by Commission Regulation (EEC) 1351/87 to Commission Regulation (EEC) 1868/77, they extend the Community provisions to which the principal Regulations apply (regulation 3(d)). They also make other minor amendments (regulation 3(a)—(d)).
