Made: 9th July 1987

Coming into force: 30th July 1987

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 447(2) of the Housing Act 1985[^f00001], and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Home Purchase Assistance (Recognised Lending Institutions) Order 1987 and comes into force on 30th July 1987.

The bodies named in the Schedule to this Order are hereby specified for the purposes of section 447(2) of the Housing Act 1985.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order specifies two additional bodies for the purposes of section 447 of the Housing Act 1985. Bodies recognised as lending institutions for the purposes of section 447 may receive advances from the Secretary of State to enable them to provide assistance to first-time purchasers of house property (the “Homeloan” Scheme). Certain bodies are listed in section 447(1) and an additional body was specified by the Home Purchase Assistance (Recognised Lending Institutions) Order 1982 (S.I. 1982/976) which is retained in force by section 2 of the Housing (Consequential Provisions) Act 1985 (c. 71).
