Coming into force on a day to be appointed under section 1(3)

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 21st day of July 1987 Present, The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 112 of the Government of India Act 1833[^f00001], the British Settlements Acts 1887 and 1945[^f00002] or otherwise in Her Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

Citation, construction and commencement.

Amendment of sections 4 and 14 of Constitution.

The Constitution set out in Schedule 1 to the principal Order is amended—

Transitional.

The person who, immediately before the commencement of this Order, holds the office of Treasurer of St. Helena shall be deemed to have been appointed, as from the commencement of this Order, to hold the office of Financial Secretary of St. Helena in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution and to have taken any necessary oath under the Constitution.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order amends the Constitution of St. Helena set out in Schedule 1 to the St. Helena (Constitution) Order 1966 in view of the title of the office of Treasurer of St. Helena being altered to that of Financial Secretary of St. Helena, and makes transitional provision in connection therewith.
