Made: 28th September 1987

Coming into force: 13th October 1987

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10, 12 and 41 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001], and now vested in him[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers:

The new highway which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become a trunk road as from the date when this Order comes into force.

The centre line of the new trunk road is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan.

The Secretary of State directs as respects any part of a highway which crosses the route of the new trunk road that—

until, in either case, a date to be specified in a notice given by the Secretary of State to the highway authority for that highway. The date specified will not be later than the date on which the relevant route is opened for the purposes of through traffic.

The length of trunk road described in Schedule 2 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be a trunk road and shall be classified as a classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Norfolk that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

This Order shall come into force on 13th October 1987 and may be cited as the A11 London—Norwich Trunk Road (Thetford Bypass) Order 1987.

SCHEDULE 1 — ROUTE OF THE NEW TRUNK ROAD

A route at Thetford in the County of Norfolk about 6.92 kilometres in length, starting at a point in Thetford Warren about 915 metres south-west of the Junction of Caxton Way with the trunk road, turning northwards then eastwards to a point in Kilverstone 80 metres north-east of the junction of A1075 Hockham Road with the trunk road.

SCHEDULE 2 — LENGTH OF TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

That length of the trunk road which extends from a point in Thetford Warren about 915 metres south-west of its junction with Caxton Way, north-eastwards to a point in Kilverstone 80 metres north east of its junction with A1075 Hockham Road.
