Made: 22nd October 1987

Coming into force: 20th November 1987

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001], and now vested in him[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers:

The lengths of the Trunk Road described in the Schedule to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk road and shall be classified as classified road as from the date on which the Secretary of State notifies the County Council of Berkshire that the new trunk road is open for through traffic.

In this Order—

2 i “classified road” as a classification for a highway, means that the highway is not a prinicpal road for the purposes of enactments or instruments which refer to highways classified as principal roads but is a classified road for the purpose of every enactment and instrument which refers to highways classified by the Secretary of State and which does not specifically refer to their classification as principal roads;
ii “the deposited plan” means the plan numbered CSE 242/2/26/01 marked “A423 West of Maidenhead—Oxford Trunk Road (Maidenhead Thicket—Burchetts Green Section) Detrunking Order 1987”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43, Marsham Street, London, SW1P 3PY;
iii “the new trunk road” means the highway to be provided by the Secretary of State in pursuance of the A423 West of Maidenhead—Oxford Trunk Road (Maidenhead Thicket—Burchetts Green Section) and Slip Roads Order 1987[^f00003] in which it is referred to as the main new trunk road; and
iv “the Trunk Road” means the West of Maidenhead—Oxford Trunk Road (A423).

This Order shall come into force on 20th November 1987 and may be cited as the A423 West of Maidenhead—Oxford Trunk Road (Maidenhead Thicket—Burchetts Green Section) Detrunking Order 1987.

THE SCHEDULE — LENGTHS OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The length situtated between a point 365 metres north west of the roundabout junction between the A423, the A4 Bath Road and the A423(M) motorway and a point 425 metres to the east of the roundabout junction between the A423 and the A404 Marlow Bisham Bypass, a distance of 1.42 kilometres in the District of Windsor and Maidenhead.

The length situated between a point 175 metres south east of the roundabout junction between the A423 and the A404 Marlow Bisham Bypass and the said roundabout.
