Made: 22nd October 1987

Coming into force: 20th November 1987

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Scheme in exercise of powers conferred by sections 16, 17 and 19 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001] and now vested in him,[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers:—

The Secretary of State is authorised to provide for the use of traffic of Classes I and II of the classes of traffic set out in Schedule 4 to the Highway Act 1980:—

The centre lines of the special roads are indicated by heavy black lines on the deposited plan.

The special roads shall become trunk roads on the date when this Scheme comes into operation.

In this Scheme:—

i “the deposited plan” means the plan numbered CSE 242/2/26/03 marked “A423(M) Motorway (Maidenhead Thicket Section) and Connecting Roads Scheme 1987”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43, Marsham Street, London, SW1P 3PY; and
ii “the special roads” means the motorway and the connecting roads.

This Scheme shall come into force on 20th November 1987 and may be cited as the A423(M) Motorway (Maidenhead Thicket Section) and Connecting Roads Scheme 1987.

SCHEDULE 1 — ROUTE OF MOTORWAY

A route, about 370 metres in length (measured along the route), starting at the north western end of the existing A423(M) motorway where it joins the A4 Bath Road roundabout at Maidenhead Thicket and proceeding in a generally northwesterly direction to end at a point where it joins the new route of the A423 West of Maidenhead to Oxford Trunk Road to be constructed as part of the A423 West of Maidenhead—Oxford Trunk Road (Maidenhead Thicket—Burchetts Green Section) and Slip Roads Order 1987 (S.I. 1987/1864), all in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in the County of Berkshire.

SCHEDULE 2 — ROUTES OF THE CONNECTING ROADS

Two routes to connect the eastbound and westbound carriageways of the Motorway with a roundabout to be constructed as a part of the A4 Bath Road at Maidenhead Thicket in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in the County of Berkshire (the special roads along these routes being respectively given the reference numbers 1 and 2 on the deposited plan).
