Made: 20th February 1987

Coming into force: 1st April 1987

The Secretary of State for Wales makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by sections 10 and 12 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001] and of all other enabling powers:—

The lengths of the trunk road described in Schedule 1 to this Order and shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan shall cease to be trunk roads and shall be classified as principal roads as from the date on which this Order comes into force.

The length of existing highway described in Schedule 2 to this Order, the centre line of which is indicated by a heavy black line on the deposited plan shall become a trunk road as from the date on which this Order comes into force.

This Order shall come into force on 1st April 1987 and may be cited as The London—Fishguard Trunk Road (A48) and The Newhouse—High Beech Principal Road (A466) (County of Gwent) Order 1987.

SCHEDULE 1 — THE LENGTH OF THE TRUNK ROAD CEASING TO BE A TRUNK ROAD

The lengths of the trunk road ceasing to be trunk road are in the County of Gwent and are shown by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan and are the following:—

SCHEDULE 2 — ROUTE OF THE NEW TRUNK ROAD

The length of the existing highway becoming a trunk road is that highway in the County of Gwent from its junction with the M4 Motorway at Newhouse, Chepstow including Newhouse roundabout and proceeding in a north-westerly direction for about 2.15 kilometres to its south-easterly junction with the London—Fishguard Trunk Road (A48) at High Beech roundabout, Chepstow (marked on plan number 4 of the deposited plan).
