The Local Government Reorganisation (Property) (South Yorkshire) Order 1987

Made: 2nd April 1987

Laid before Parliament: 14th April 1987

Coming into force: 5th May 1987

Now, therefore, the Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 67(3) of that Act, and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, hereby makes the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Local Government Reorganisation (Property) (South Yorkshire) Order 1987 and shall come into force on 5th May 1987.

There shall vest in each council mentioned below the property described in the Schedule so mentioned in relation to that council, together with all rights and liabilities acquired or incurred exclusively in connection with that property—

Where on 1st April 1986 by virtue of section 263 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00002] any highway vested in any council mentioned in article 2 above, any interest of the South Yorkshire Residuary Body in any land below such highway shall vest in that council.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order transfers certain properties formerly owned by the South Yorkshire Metropolitan County Council for highways, derelict land, and other purposes to the councils for the districts in which they are situated.

Article 2 transfers property mentioned in the Schedules as follows—
