The Devon County Council (Exeter, River Exe Bridge) Scheme 1985 Confirmation Instrument 1987

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Instrument in exercise of powers conferred by section 106(3) of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001], and now vested in him[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers:

The Devon County Council (Exeter, River Exe Bridge) Scheme 1985 is hereby confirmed with modifications, consisting of the incorporation of Plans, numbered EX.C/53/1 and HQ(DC), showing the location and specifications of the proposed bridge.

The said Scheme as confirmed (hereinafter referred to as “the Scheme”) is set out in the Schedule hereto. Copies of the Scheme with its accompanying plans are deposited at the offices of the Department of Transport, and at the offices of the Devon County Council, Area Engineer (East) at Room 444, Civic Centre, Exeter, Devon.

The Scheme will become operative on the date on which notice that it has been confirmed is first published in accordance with paragraph 1 of Schedule 2 to the Highways Act 1980.

This Instrument may be cited as the Devon County Council (Exeter, River Exe Bridge) Scheme 1985 Confirmation Instrument 1987.

SCHEDULE TO THE INSTRUMENT — THE DEVON COUNTY COUNCIL (EXETER, RIVER EXE BRIDGE) SCHEME 1985

The Devon County Council (hereinafter referred to as “the Council”) make this Scheme in exercise of their powers under section 106 of the Highways Act 1980 and of all other enabling powers.

The Council are authorised to construct over the navigable waters of the River Exe 300 metres downstream from St James Weir to link the Ducks Marsh area with the existing bridge over the Exeter Canal the bridge specified in the Schedule to this Scheme as part of the highway which they are proposing to construct known as the Exeter Cycle Track at Exeter in the County of Devon.

This Scheme may be cited as The Devon County Council (Exeter, River Exe Bridge) Scheme 1985.

THE SCHEDULE TO THE SCHEME — PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS OF THE EXETER, RIVER EXE BRIDGE

The bridge consists of a two-span continuous post tensioned concrete structure with built in reinforced concrete pier and reinforced concrete abutments spanning the River Exe and a flood channel. The location and specifications of the bridge are shown, respectively, on Plan Number EX.C/53/1 and Plan Number HQ(DC) attached hereto and incorporated into this Schedule.
