At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 18th day of May 1987 Present, The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in pursuance of section 4 of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

Citation and commencement

Reading East and Wokingham

For the county constituencies of Reading East and Wokingham as constituted by the Schedule to the Parliamentary Constituencies (England) Order 1983[^f00002] (and described by reference to local government areas referred to in that Order), there shall be substituted the constituencies which are named in the Schedule to this Order and comprise the areas set out in that Schedule, which areas are local government areas as they existed on 16th April 1987 (and accordingly as altered by the Wokingham (Parishes) Order 1986[^f00003]).

Register of electors

Each electoral registration officer for the constituencies referred to in article 2 above shall make such re-arrangement or adaptation of the registers of parliamentary electors as may be necessary to give effect to this Order.

SCHEDULE — NEW CONSTITUENCIES

Reading East (county constituency)

Wokingham (county constituency)

The following wards of the District of Wokingham, namely Bulmershe, Charvil, Coronation, Emmbrook, Evendons, Hurst, Little Hungerford, Loddon, Norreys, Redhatch, Remenham and Wargrave, Sonning, South Lake, Twyford and Ruscombe, Wescott, Whitegates, Winnersh and Wokingham Without.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order gives effect without modification to the recommendations contained in the report of the Boundary Commission for England dated 16th April 1987. The report contains proposals for changes to the areas of the parliamentary constituencies of Reading East and Wokingham and the new constituencies are set out and described in the Schedule to this Order. By virtue of section 4(6) of the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 1986 the coming into force of this Order does not affect any parliamentary election until a proclamation is issued by Her Majesty summoning a new Parliament.
