The London—Birmingham Trunk Road (A41) (M25 Interchange) (Trunking and De-trunking) Order 1988

Made: 4th July 1988

Coming into force: 1st September 1988

The Secretary of State for Transport makes this Order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001], and now vested in him[^f00002], and of all other enabling powers:

The highway which the Secretary of State has constructed along the route described in Schedule 1 to this Order shall become a trunk road as from the date when this Order comes into force.

The new trunk road is indicated by solid black shading on the deposited plan.

The lengths of highway described in Schedule 2 to this Order shall cease to be trunk road from the date when this Order comes into force.

The lengths of highway ceasing to be trunk road are indicated by broad striped hatching on the deposited plan.

In this Order:—

• (1) all masurements of distance are measured along the route of the relevant highway;

• (2)

• (i) “the deposited plan” means the plan numbers HA10/2E/269 marked “The London—Birmingham Trunk Road (A41) (M25 Interchange) (Trunking and De-trunking) Order 1988”, signed by authority of the Secretary of State and deposited at the Department of Transport, Romney House, 43 Marsham Street, London SW1P 3PY;

• (ii) “the new trunk road” means the highway mentioned in article 1 of this Order; and

• (iii) “the trunk road” means the London—Birmingham Trunk Road (A41).

This Order shall come into force on 1st September 1988 and may be cited as the London—Birmingham Trunk Road (A41) (M25 Interchange) (Trunking and De-trunking) Order 1988.

SCHEDULE 1 — ROUTE OF THE NEW TRUNK ROAD

A route from a point 40 metres south-east of the southern end of the A41/M25 interchange in a generally north-western direction to a point 210 metres north of the northern end of that interchange including the lengths of highway comprised in the roundabout at that interchange.

SCHEDULE 2 — LENGTHS OF HIGHWAY CEASING TO BE TRUNK ROAD

A length of the trunk road from the north-western boundary of the M25 Motorway adjacent to the eastbound on-slip road at the A41/M25 interchange for a distance of 200 metres north-westwards.

A length of the trunk road from the south-eastern boundary of the M25 Motorway adjacent to the westbound off-slip road at the A41/M25 interchange for a distance of 140 metres south-eastwards.
