Coming into force: 19th February 1988
The Secretary of State for Wales makes this order in exercise of powers conferred by section 10 of the Highways Act 1980[^f00001] and of all other enabling powers:—

The new highways which the Secretary of State proposes to construct along the routes described in the Schedule to this Order shall become trunk roads as from the date when this Order comes into force.

The centre lines of the new trunk roads are indicated by heavy black lines on the deposited plan.

In this Order—
- (i) “the deposited plan” means the plan numbered HA 10/2-WO66 marked “The Swansea-Manchester Trunk Road (A483) and the Shrewsbury-Dolgellau Trunk Road (A458) (Welshpool North-South Relief Road) Order 1988,” signed by authority of the Secretary of State for Wales and deposited at the Welsh Office Repository, Curran Embankment, Cardiff;
- (ii) “the new trunk roads” means the highways mentioned in article 1 of this Order and “a new trunk road” means one of those highways;

This Order shall come into force on 19th February 1988 and may be cited as the Swansea-Manchester Trunk Road (A483) and the Shrewsbury-Dolgellau Trunk Road (A458) (Welshpool North-South Relief Road) Order 1988.
SCHEDULE ROUTES OF THE NEW TRUNK ROADS
A route about 3,993 metres in length starting at a point about 126 metres south of the property known as 10 Sarn-y-Bryn Caled and extending in a general north-easterly direction to a point about 183 metres south west of the property known as Gungrog Lodge,
a route about 530 metres in length starting at a point about 204 metres north east of the property known as Gungrog Lodge and extending in a general north-easterly direction to a point about 30 metres south of the property known as Tan-yr-Hallt,
a route about 103 metres in length starting at a point about 57 metres north east of the property known as 10 Sarn-y-Bryn Caled and extending in a general south easterly direction to join the new trunk road described in (i) above at a point about 130 metres east of the property known as 1 Sarn-y-Bryn Caled,
a route 31 metres in length starting at a point about 40 metres west of the property known as Manston House and extending in a general south easterly direction to join the new trunk road described in (i) above at a point about 23 metres south west of the property known as Manston House.
