The Submarine Pipe-lines (Designated Owners) (No. 22) Order 1988

Coming into force: 1st October 1988

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 33(3) of the Petroleum and Submarine Pipe-lines Act 1975[^f00001] (hereinafter referred to as “the Act”) and of all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and after giving those persons affected an opportunity of being heard with respect to the matter, hereby makes the following Order:—

This Order may be cited as the Submarine Pipe-lines (Designated Owners) (No. 22) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st October 1988.

For the purposes of Part III of the Act, each person specified in Part I of the Schedule hereto is hereby designated as the owner of so much of the pipe-lines specified in Part II of the Schedule as are controlled pipe-lines and the owner of the controlled pipe-lines specified in Part III of the Schedule.

PART I — designated owners

• Britoil p.l.c., whose registered office is at 301 St. Vincent Street, Glasgow G2 5DD.

• Conoco (UK) Ltd., whose registered office is at Park House, 116 Park Street, London W1Y 4NN.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order designates the two companies specified in Part I of the Schedule as owners of the pipe-lines described in Parts II and III of the Schedule. In the case of the pipe-lines specified in Part II, the designation applies only to those parts which are in controlled waters, that is the territorial sea and areas designated under the Continental Shelf Act 1964 (c. 29).

The pipe-lines referred to in Part II lie between the Viking gasfield situated east of the coast of Lincolnshire and the gas terminal at Theddlethorpe.

Those referred to in Part III lie above the Viking gasfield.
