The Merchant Shipping (Fishing Boats Registry) (Amendment) Order 1988

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 17th day of February 1988 Present, The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by sections 373(5) and 738(1) of the Merchant Shipping Act 1894[^f00001] and of all other powers enabling Her in that behalf, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:

This Order may be cited as the Merchant Shipping (Fishing Boats Registry) (Amendment) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 17th March 1988.

Article 5 of the Merchant Shipping (Fishing Boats Registry) Order 1981[^f00002] shall be replaced by the following:—

(5) A register in the form specified in Schedule 2 hereto with a consecutive series of numbers shall be kept in respect of each port of registry.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

The Merchant Shipping (Fishing Boats Registry) (Amendment) Order 1987 (S.I. 1987/1284) provided that in a number of cases the Registrar for a port of registry might be an officer stationed somewhere other than at that port, but did not alter the requirement that the register be kept at the port of registry. This Order substitutes for that a requirement that a register be kept in respect of each port of registry but not necessarily at that port.
