Coming into force: 1st December 1988

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 23rd day of March 1988 Present, The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Her Majesty, in exercise of the powers conferred on Her by section 120(1) and (6) of the Land Registration Act 1925[^f00001] and sections 80(2) and 90 of the London Government Act 1963[^f00002], is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order and declare, and it is hereby ordered and declared, as follows:

This Order may be cited as the Registration of Title Order 1988 and shall come into force on 1st December 1988.

As from 1st December 1988 the Registration of Title Order 1987 shall cease to have effect.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order extends the system of compulsory registration of title on sale of land to the districts mentioned in article 2(1)(a) with effect from 1st December 1988 and, on the same date, to the administrative area of the Isles of Scilly as stated in article 2(1)(b).
