The Lord Chancellor, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by sections 1, 20 and 25 of the Legal Aid Act 1974[^f00001], hereby makes the following Regulations:—

For the weekly sum of £118 specified in section 1(1)(a) of the Act, there shall be substituted the weekly sum of £122.

For the capital sum of £825 specified in section 1(1) of the Act, there shall be substituted the sum of £850, except in relation to assistance by way of representation (for which the sum remains £3,000[^f00002]).

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations increase the disposable income limit for the availability of legal advice and assistance under Part I of the Legal Aid Act 1974 from £118 to £122 a week and increase the disposable capital limit from £825 to £850.
