The Mortgage Indemnities (Recognised Bodies) (No. 1) Order 1988

Made: 21st January 1988

Coming into force: 12th February 1988

The Secretary of State, in exercise of the powers conferred on him by section 444(1) of the Housing Act 1985[^f00001], and all other powers enabling him in that behalf, and with the consent of the Treasury, hereby makes the following Order:

This Order may be cited as the Mortgage Indemnities (Recognised Bodies) (No. 1) Order 1988 and shall come into force on 12th February 1988.

The bodies named in the Schedule to this Order are hereby specified as recognised bodies for the purposes of sections 442 and 443 of the Housing Act 1985.

SCHEDULE — RECOGNISED BODIES FOR THE PURPOSES OF SECTIONS 442 AND 443 OF THE HOUSING ACT 1985

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order specifies five additional bodies as recognised bodies for the purposes of sections 442 and 443 of the Act. Local authorities may, with the approval of the Secretary of State, enter into agreements with recognised bodies providing for indemnities, where such bodies make advances secured by way of mortgage on dwelling-houses bought from the public sector landlords listed in section 444(4) of the Act
