The Summer Time Order 1988

Made: 25th May 1988

Coming into force: 8th June 1988

At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 25th day of May 1988 Present, The Queen’s Most Excellent Majesty in Council

Now, therefore, Her Majesty, in Exercise of the powers conferred upon Her by section 2(1)(a) of that Act, is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows:—

• (1) This Order may be cited as the Summer Time Order 1988 and shall come into force on the fourteenth day after the day on which it is made.

• (2) This Order shall have effect in Great Britain, Northern Ireland and the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

In relation to the year 1989, the period of summer time for the purposes of the Summer Time Act 1972 shall be the period beginning at one o'clock, Greenwich mean time, in the morning of 26th March 1989 and ending at one o'clock, Greenwich mean time, in the morning of 29th October 1989 instead of the period specified in section 1 of that Act.

Explanatory note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order provides for the period of summer time in 1989 during which the time for general purposes in the United Kingdom will be one hour in advance of Greenwich mean time. The Order applies also to the Bailiwick of Guernsey but not to the Bailiwick of Jersey or the Isle of Man which have their own legislation on the subject.
